Tinaroo Falls Dam safety notice

Update 1 – Monday, 8 January 2024, 9:43am

Tinaroo Falls Dam is spilling water and, while the outflows are impressive to look at, it is important that community members keep safety front of mind when visiting the dam.

Visitors should exercise caution when accessing the spillway lookout and viewing area which is located downstream of the dam.

For all other activities stay away from the dam wall by at least 200 metres and do not enter the exclusion zone indicated by the dam’s buoy line. These activities are unsafe and not permitted by law.

Areas downstream of dams become increasingly dangerous when there are outflows. Sunwater strongly urges visitors to stay away from these areas for their own safety.

Signs and fencing are in place to warn of safety hazards in the area. If you choose to ignore the signs and trespass in restricted areas you are breaking the law and could be fined.

Sunwater staff regularly patrol our facilities and report trespassers to the police.

If you see dangerous behaviour or trespassers, contact police or call Sunwater on 13 15 89.

Don’t take risks, read and obey signs and enjoy the waterway safely.
