Julius Dam – Spill event

Julius Dam is now at 99.6% capacity and any storm activity could lead to a spill. The dam access road continues to remain closed.  Sunwater will provide a further update when the road reopens. Julius Dam is now at 100.1% capacity and the volume of excess water spilling is decreasing.  The dam access road continues to remain closed.  Sunwater will provide a further update when the road reopens. Julius Dam is at 99.7% capacity and no longer spilling excess water.  Access roads to the dam are still closed.

If you are downstream of the dam, continue to avoid potential hazards.

Water spilling from Julius Dam into the Leichhardt River has ceased. The Kajabbi community can expect continued river flows.

Julius Dam is at 100.2% capacity. The dam continues to spill excess water however flows are decreasing. The road to the Dam remains closed. This is advice provided whilst the dam is spilling. An update will be issued if conditions change. For dam level updates visit our website

Update 2 – Monday, 2 January 2023 – 3.15pm

Julius Dam is currently 99.8% capacity and is expected to spill excess water into the Leichhardt River in the coming hours due to rainfall in the catchment.

The dam is closed and the gates to site have been closed to public access.

An update will be issued if the dam starts spilling.
