Notice: Eungella Dam planned closure

Eungella Dam

Update 2 – 24 October 2022, 9:55am

Sunwater advises that the Eungella Dam campground works are completed and are now open for public access.

Sunwater thanks the community for their patience whilst these recreation upgrade works were undertaken.

Please be reminded that approximately one quarter of the site has severe erosion and will remain closed for a 12-month period to enable rehabilitation and revegetation.

Update 1 – 29 August 2022, 10:50am

Sunwater advises that Eungella Dam will be closed to the public from Tuesday 4 to Monday 24 October for recreation area upgrade works (weather permitting).

The closure applies to the entire site including camping grounds and facilities. No onsite camping will be permitted during this time. Signage will be in place on site and at three main entry routes to Eungella Dam to advise of the closure.

Recreation upgrade works will include:

  • Improvements to the carpark adjacent to the amenities block and restoration of site roads for safer, easier access to campgrounds and facilities
  • Installation of a security camera system in the campground to discourage illegal activity and anti-social behaviour

Approximately one quarter of the site has severe erosion. Following these upgrades, the damaged area will remain closed for a 12-month period to enable rehabilitation and revegetation.

We understand Eungella Dam is a popular holiday destination and we have scheduled these upgrades to avoid peak visitor periods including the October long weekend and the summer school holiday period when camping is highly popular.

Sunwater thanks the community for their patience as these recreation upgrade works are undertaken.
