Sunwater has developed a set of forecast irrigation prices for the four-year Price Path period 1 July 2025 to 30 June 2029.

As part of our pricing submission to the Queensland Competition Authority (QCA), Sunwater will propose a change to the way we recover renewals costs through irrigation prices. Renewals expenditure is required to maintain Sunwater’s water supply scheme assets so the standard of service for those assets is maintained over time.

The way Sunwater currently recovers renewals costs is through a customer annuity contribution. This forms part of the prices irrigators pay today.

The change we are proposing as part of our submission to the QCA involves moving from an annuity contribution to a regulated asset base approach – or RAB for short.

This invoice calculator illustrates prices under:

  1.  the current annuity-based approach, and
  2. the proposed regulated asset base (RAB) approach.

Note: Calculator updated on 3 November 2023 to reflect minor changes to the tax calculation (RAB prices), intra-scheme cost transfers and volume of irrigation entitlements. Changes impact tariff groups in Bundaberg (BBB, BIG), Upper Condamine (IBU), Burdekin Haughton (AIE) and Lower Mary River (BIC) only.

Calculator updated on 6 November 2023 to correct a minor rounding error that was causing recommended prices to vary from cost reflective in some instances where they should have been the same value.

Calculator updated on 8 November 2023 to reflect lower cost of new billing system and updating the cost transfer for Bundaberg Water Supply Scheme.
