Temporary workers camp at Burdekin Falls Dam as site investigations ramp up

Over the coming months Sunwater is undertaking a range of site investigations and surveys as part of the Burdekin Falls Dam Improvement and Raising detailed business case assessments.

Investigations range from additional geotechnical inspections to groundwater, geomorphology, and terrestrial ecology surveys. The findings from these investigations will contribute to the detailed business case currently underway as well as the environmental impact statement for the proposed raising of the dam.

From the week commencing 13 September 2021 (weather permitting) Sunwater will be establishing a temporary workers camp at the dam to accommodate contractors who will be undertaking the site investigations.

The camp site will be located near the main public camp site. Public campers may experience intermittent construction noise while the camp site is established, as well as heavy vehicle movement along Burdekin Falls Dam Road.

Sunwater will work closely with the contractors to minimise disruption to public campers and the local community.
