Notice: Glenlyon Dam residents and visitors advised to bring potable water

Glenlyon Dam

This alert applies from Wednesday 30 June 2021 to all residents and visitors at Glenlyon Dam who receive treated water from Glenlyon Dam Water Supply.

Sunwater advises all residents and visitors to not use the tap water for drinking, cooking or brushing teeth following higher than normal levels of turbidity in the water supply.

Residents and visitors are urged to bring their own potable water to the recreation area.

Limited bottled water is available for purchase from the Glenlyon Dam Tourist Park office.

Sunwater has issued this notice as a precaution and is undertaking a series of actions to investigate and rectify the cause of the issue.

The water quality notice will stay in effect until Sunwater is confident the issue has been suitably resolved.

Regular updates will be provided.

If you are concerned about your health contact 13 HEALTH (13 43 25 84), your local doctor or local hospital and advise them of your concerns.

Whilst it is recommended to not use the water for drinking, cooking or brushing teeth, the water can be used for:

  • showering and bathing other than infants (but minimise water in the mouth)
  • washing dishes by hand or in a dishwasher, provided dishes are air-dried
  • washing clothes
  • flushing toilets.

If you have any further concerns, please contact Sunwater on 13 15 89.
