Recreation areas, dams, lakes and weirs closed to public use from 31 March

Wuruma Dam Recreational Area

In line with recent government announcements, Sunwater recreation areas, dams, lakes and weirs will be closed to public use from Tuesday 31 March 2020 until further notice.

This includes:

  • day trips
  • camping
  • land and water-based activities – swimming, boating, skiing and fishing
  • facilities – toilet and shower blocks, picnic areas, play equipment and look-out areas

This closure also applies to those who access Sunwater recreation areas, dams, lakes and weirs from the flood margin.

Our primary concern is the health and safety of our people and the community. We must do all we can to limit the spread of COVID-19.

If you had prepaid for camping, please contact 13 15 89 to arrange a refund.

Sunwater will continue essential operational activities at dams, lakes and weirs including on-lake surveillance and monitoring.

We are listening to the advice of the Queensland Government and health authorities and we encourage the community to do so as well.
