Camping sites to close from 26 March

Eungella Dam

Sunwater will close camping sites at three of its dams in regional Queensland from tomorrow due to the COVID-19 public health crisis.

Members of the public will no longer be able to camp at Burdekin Falls, Eungella and Wuruma dams until further notice.

“Our primary concern is the health and safety of staff and the community,” said Sunwater Executive General Manager Operations Colin Bendall.

“We must do all we can to limit the spread of the virus as these sites often draw large camping crowds.”

Day visitors remain welcome at all Sunwater recreational sites but will be subject to meeting current social distancing guidelines.

Sunwater also encourages people to bring their own supplies and observe good hygiene practices.

Sunwater is listening to the advice of the Queensland Government and health authorities and we encourage our customers and the community to do so as well.

Sunwater will continue to work closely with local councils and other authorities to ensure our recreation areas and camping facilities remain safe for the community.
