Interim CEO announcement

The Board of Sunwater has announced that David Hourigan, experienced public sector leader and former Deputy Director General of the Department of Premier and Cabinet in the Queensland Government, has been appointed as interim Chief Executive of the organisation, effective 8 June 2026.

Sunwater Chair Jeff Seeney said Mr Hourigan’s extensive experience in State and Federal Government roles and his recent success as interim CEO of Queensland’s Olympic Games Independent Infrastructure and Coordination Authority will ensure Sunwater receives strong, strategic direction as the organisation transitions to a permanent CEO.

“We look forward to David leading Sunwater’s delivery of water for prosperity to customers and communities across regional Queensland.”

Mr Seeney said an executive recruitment process had commenced to identify a permanent CEO for Sunwater and thanked Chief Financial Officer Erin Strang for acting in the role in recent weeks.
