Bjelke-Petersen Dam Recreation Area Upgrades – stage two

Update 1 – Monday, 20 April 2026, 9:52am

Sunwater is upgrading the day use recreation area near the boat ramp at Bjelke-Petersen Dam. This will include installation of an accessible BBQ and shelter, upgrades to electrical assets and additional lighting, accessible paths and new safety bollards.

 

Work is scheduled to start in late April and finish in early June, subject to site and weather conditions.

 

During the work, the recreation area and boat ramp will remain open to the public and there will be no impact to caravan park users. The works will not impact recreation areas over the Labour Day long weekend.

 

This is the second stage of upgrades at Bjelke-Petersen Dam. Stage 1 works were completed in June 2025.

The project is part of a Queensland Government program to upgrade recreation facilities at popular dam and weir sites around Queensland.
