May to late 2017.

Paradise Dam is a key component of the Bundaberg Water Supply Scheme located approximately 20km north-west of Biggenden and 80km south-west of Bundaberg, Queensland.

Following a record flood event in January 2013, a Dam Safety Review and Comprehensive Risk Assessment at Paradise Dam was conducted.

Engineering assessments identified areas of the Dam that could be further strengthened to withstand extreme weather events.

The Dam will undergo construction of an additional section of concrete protection to the base of the primary spillway, involving:

  • Strengthening the base of the primary spillway
  • Downstream protection of the left hand side dam wall
  • Construction of an access and drainage culvert
