Design and Construction of Bulk Water Storages and Supply

SunWater through its large-scale water infrastructure development programs is well recognised for its significant contribution to the rural, industrial, energy, mining and urban development of Queensland.

We have designed and managed the construction of 30 of Queensland's dams, 82 weirs and barrages, 39 reservoirs and balancing storages and rural and bulk water infrastructure systems over the past 80 years.

SunWater's in-house specialist services have been professionally developed and skills fine-tuned  through many years of developing water infrastructure for Government (state, local, water regulators), water supply boards, private sector developers, mining and industry within Queensland, Australia and internationally.

As the largest owner of water supply infrastructure in Queensland, SunWater has also generated significant in-house expertise in all areas of project management of water infrastructure developments such as:

  • Ancillary mechanical, electrical and civil design
  • GIS, AutoCad drafting
  • Cadastral, deformation, topographic, precise control and geodetic and 'as constructed' survey

Refurbishments and Upgrades

SunWater understands the importance of project longevity in a dynamic industry like water, and has built a reputation for the ability to implement major upgrades and refurbishments to existing infrastructure.

Whether it be to increase storage or to comply with new statutory legislation, our intrinsic knowledge and understanding of supply solutions gives us the leading edge in major modifications that delivers the customer a cost effective and outcome orientated solution.

Major infrastructure upgrade and refurbishment projects successfully delivered include:

  • The raising of spillways
  • Raising existing infrastructure by the inclusion of a variable control structure
  • Raising complete dam walls and weirs
