Coolmunda Dam – spill event

Coolmunda Dam is no longer spilling excess water. If you are downstream of the dam, continue to avoid potential hazards and remember if it’s flooded, forget it.

Update 3 – Monday, 4 April 2022 – 11:25am

Coolmunda Dam is 100.4% capacity and outflows are expected to increase overnight due to rainfall in the catchment.

Water flows expected to remain within beds and banks of river. Access Road remains closed.

If downstream of the dam, expect increased river flows and remember if it’s flooded, forget it.

  • following Sunwater on Facebook and Twitter
  • checking the Goondiwindi Regional Council Disaster Dashboard grc.qld.gov.au/council/disasters/management/home for emergency news, road and crossing closures and power outages
  • tuning into ABC local radio
  • monitoring forecasts and river levels at bom.gov.au
  • checking the dam’s level at bit.ly/CoolmundaStorageLevels

Update 2 – Saturday 26 March, 8:56am

Coolmunda Dam is 102.4% capacity and spilling excess water. Water flows expected to remain within beds and banks of river. The access road is now closed.

If downstream of the dam, expect increased river flows and remember if it’s flooded, forget it.

Coolmunda Dam is currently 100% capacity and may spill excess water overnight due to forecast rainfall in the catchment. An update will be issued if the dam starts spilling.
