Fishing and boating safety

Sunwater urges boaties to stay safe on the water when visiting our storages for recreation.

Boating and fishing on or near dam and weir walls is unsafe and illegal. Stay away from these structures by at least 200 metres or as signed and stay outside of the exclusion zone indicated by the buoy line.

Skippers are reminded to monitor conditions and understand the risks of operating their vessel. The skipper is responsible for properly equipping, maintaining, and operating their vessel safely.

Always obey signs and speed limits. Those intending to tow water skiers should check that the water is deep enough and free from floating or underwater hazards.

Before entering the water visit the Maritime Safety Queensland website for the latest speed restrictions on inland waterways and for boating safety tips: bit.ly/MSQSpeedLimits

Sunwater’s priority is that everyone enjoys the waterway safely.
