Lake Maraboon (Fairbairn Dam) hazard warning and restricted access hours

Fairbairn Dam

With the Lake Maraboon (Fairbairn Dam) water level currently at 13.5% capacity, Sunwater urges recreational users of the lake to be vigilant as there is an increased risk that submerged hazards may be present at or just below the surface of the water. Lake users are reminded that there is restricted access to the lake between the hours of 6:00pm and 6:00am daily.

These restrictions are in place to ensure the safety of the public as objects such as submerged trees, rocks, sandbanks and fence lines can become more hazardous and less noticeable during these hours.

Maritime Safety Queensland (MSQ) has released an updated Notice to Mariners regarding these restrictions, including the locations of known dangers, which can be viewed on the MSQ website here.

We will continue to work with MSQ and provide further updates as required.

It is important to note, that the skipper of any vessel is primarily responsible for monitoring safe conditions and operating their vessel appropriately.
