Water Trading

The following information relates to SunWater's policy on trading its own water allocations. If you would like to buy water, or sell your own water, please visit the SunWater Exchange.

SunWater, like other water allocation holders, is able to trade its water allocations in the water market. To facilitate this SunWater has announced the appointment of Psi-Delta and Elders to sell all its temporary transfer water throughout Queensland.

SunWater has developed the Water Trading Framework to ensure that its water trading activities:

comply with the Water Trading Code of Conduct (PDF format 44KB); and
are conducted with the same market information constraints as other market participants

Individual scheme Water Trading Strategies have been adopted which help to ensure that our trading practices are independent and transparent.

Service Standard for processing Temporary Transfers

A service standard for processing times (approval or rejection of trades) has been adopted by The Council of Australian Governments (COAG). The COAG requirement is as below.

Intra-State - 90% of allocation trades processed within 10 business days	by Oct 2008
Intra-State - 90% of allocation trades processed within 5 business days	by end June 2009

SunWater has adopted a 5 Business Days processing time. Performance against this standard is published below.
