Water Supply Development
Water infrastructure development - including Build, Own and Operate (BOO) and Build, Own, Operate and Transfer (BOOT)
SunWater is widely recognised for its large-scale water infrastructure development program, which has made a significant contribution to rural, industrial, energy, mining and urban sectors in Queensland. We have designed, constructed or managed the construction of the majority of Queensland's bulk water infrastructure. Our first major water storage, Tinaroo Falls Dam, was completed almost 50 years ago in 1958.
Bulk water supply and distribution
At SunWater, we have a strong knowledge base and wide experience in water distribution, gained over 80 years of providing water to customers via our 69 major pump stations and 2,500 kilometres of open channels and pipelines. Our staff work around the clock to provide efficient water supply and distribution services to all our customers.
Water allocation management and trading
Feature project We supply approximately 40 percent of all water used commercially in Queensland. We provide bulk water to 38 local governments, 30 industrial, mining and power generation companies and about 5,500 irrigation enterprises across Queensland. In recent times, SunWater has developed an innovative online service, SunWaterOnline, to facilitate water allocation management and trading for our customers.
