Beardmore Dam Emergency Action Plan Activation 03/03/10
On March 3, 2010, SunWater activated Stage Three of its Emergency Action Plan for the Beardmore Dam in St George.
The activation is as a result of continued major inflows into the dam's catchment over the past 24 hours and a subsequent increase in water being discharged through the dam’s outlet gates.
Stage Three of Beardmore Dam's EAP is activated once SunWater begins a controlled release of water through the dam's gates at a rate in excess of 60,000 megalitres per day.
SunWater is currently making a controlled release of 85,000 megalitres per day.
Inflows are expected to increase over the next 48 hours. SunWater is continuing to liaise with St George authorities who are managing all flood mitigation strategies. SunWater will provide further updates as they come to hand. Further dam level information can be obtained by contacting SunWater's Glenn Pfluger on 0407574663 or Further details on local flood management arrangements can be obtained by contacting the SES on 132500
