Wet weather continues to lift storage levels in South East

Overnight rainfall in the Warrill Valley and Logan River catchments has further increased storage levels.

Moogerah Dam outside of Boonah Shire has risen a further 3% in the past 24 hours thanks to 2474 megalitres flowing in.

The dam is now at 7.3% and storing a total volume of 6068 megalitres.

The rainfall has also resulted in Logan River flows which has filled Bromelton Weir and lifted Maroon Dam a further 0.2% or by 72 megalitres.

Maroon Dam is currently at 15.7% and holding 6977 megalitres.

SunWater Corporate Strategy Manager Tom Vanderbyl said the recent rainfall was welcome and very useful in wetting up the catchments in the region.

“The catchment areas are now well and truly soaked and will continue to provide a good platform for run off if we witness further rainfall over the next few days,” Mr Vanderbyl said.

“While inflows to date have not been major, it’s still pleasing to see any volume increases after such a long dry period in the South East.

“SunWater was able to lift water allocations for Boonah Shire from 51% to 100% yesterday thanks to earlier inflows and we are currently looking at storage volumes to see if it is possible to increase allocations for other water users,” he said.

Mr Vanderbyl said water users would be advised of any increases to their allocation as soon as possible.
