SunWater safety campaign highlights trespassing dangers02-Feb-2016
SunWater has recently launched a new safety campaign to remind the community about the risks of trespassing and the potential hazards when visiting dams, weirs and channels.
The online video is being distributed through a variety of digital platforms, including social media, which is targeted primarily at teenagers and young adults.
SunWater Chief Executive, Peter Boettcher said the aim of the campaign is to reduce the incidence of trespassing at SunWater’s dams, weirs and channels and visitors behaving dangerously.
"A restricted area may appear to be safe but tragedy can occur when you least expect it. It is alarming to receive regular notifications of members of the community ignoring warning signs and placing their safety at risk," he said.
"We want all visitors to SunWater’s facilities to have an enjoyable and safe time which means that everyone needs to make safety their priority.
"SunWater encourages the community to contact their local council for information on appropriate swimming locations or to visit our website for information on recreational facilities at SunWater dams."
