SunWater has welcomed today’s interim report by the Townsville Water Security Taskforce into the short, medium and long-term water security solutions for Townsville.

SunWater CEO Nicole Hollows said SunWater recognises the impact of drought conditions for the City of Townsville and is committed to working with Townsville City Council to address water supply issues.

The report includes several recommendations and options involving SunWater including building an additional pipeline and pumps from Haughton Pump Station to Ross River Dam; increasing pump station and channel capacity from Clare to Haughton Pump Station; working towards improved energy solutions at new and existing pumps; and building a new pump station at Clare.

“Townsville City Council is an important customer and we look forward to working closely with the Council, the State Government and other agencies in implementing the recommendations in the report,” Ms Hollows said.
