09 Sep 2013

SunWater’s Chinchilla Beneficial Use Scheme has taken out the top regional award in the 2013 Queensland Project Management Achievement Awards hosted by the Australian Institute of Project Management in Brisbane last Friday night.

SunWater General Manager, Industrial Pipelines, Tim Donaghy said he was proud of the results SunWater has achieved on the project.

"SunWater is delighted that the Australian Institute of Project Management has recognised the company for its efforts on building and managing the Kenya to Chinchilla Weir Pipeline” said Mr Donaghy.

This win means the project is now eligible for the National Award to be announced in October at the Australian Institute of Project Management National Conference in Perth.

About the Chinchilla Beneficial Use Scheme

QGC engaged SunWater to build, own, operate and maintain a 20 kilometre underground pipeline to transport treated coal seam gas (CSG) water from its Kenya water treatment plant to SunWater’s Chinchilla Weir.

The Kenya to Chinchilla Weir Pipeline will provide the Chinchilla district with up to 85 megalitres of water per day for beneficial use by local farmers, the Chinchilla township and industrial users.

The project is the first of its kind in Queensland resulting in genuine community benefits.
