SunWater calls for feedback on Connors River Dam Recreation Area

11 Apr 2012

SunWater is calling for members of the Moranbah, Dysart and Nebo communities to have their say about the proposed Connors River Dam recreation area.

As part of the Connors River Dam and Pipelines Project, SunWater will be constructing a recreation area adjacent to the dam to provide the local community, passing travellers and tourists with facilities for camping, fishing and general recreation.

SunWater General Manager Infrastructure Development, Mark Browne, said that SunWater has created a dedicated website as a forum for community members to access further information about the recreation area design and to put forward their ideas about how it could best be used.

"The Recreation Area will largely be used by the local community, so we are looking for feedback on the proposed design for the area and we encourage people to contribute their views," he said.

"The website forum opened on April 1 and already there have been pleasing signs that people from the local area have had their say with over 300 site visits so far."

Discussions are currently taking place with key stakeholder, Isaac Regional Council, to determine arrangements with the ongoing operation and management of the facility.

Local residents wishing to have their say about the Connors River Dam Recreation Area project have until close of business on Friday, April 20 to log their views.
