20 Sep 2010

Advice No.2
Date and Time: 20/09/2010 - 3:45pm
Water Storage: Fairbairn Dam
Location: Emerald
Dam Level: 100%
Full Supply Level: 1,301,000 megalitres
Event/Issue: Increased Spillway Overflow

As owner and operator of Fairbairn Dam SunWater is advising of an increase in spillway overflow.

SunWater is advising that significant inflows into the Fairbairn Dam catchment resulted in the dam overflowing last week.

Dam water storage levels are currently 24cm/m above the spillway crest and discharging at a rate of approximately 2824ML per day.

Inflow monitoring data indicates the spill will remain steady over the next 48 hours which is well within the dam’s design parameters.

SunWater will continue to monitor the overflow event and take all necessary action under the dam’s normal operating guidelines.

SunWater has contacted all relevant local authorities to advise them of the spillway overflow and will continue to liaise with them as required.

SunWater will provide further updates on the spillway overflow once more information is gathered and assessed.
