SunWater advice on Beardmore Dam

06 Dec 2010

Advice No.1
Date and Time:
11:45am – 6/12/10
Water Storage: Beardmore Dam
Location: St George
Dam Water Level: 100%
Event/Issue: Water Release

As owner and operator of Beardmore Dam SunWater is advising of a water release.

As part of SunWater’s established dam operating procedures, a water release is being made through the downstream outlet works due to significant catchment inflows.

SunWater is currently releasing approximately 30,000 megalitres per day through seven of the dam’s 12 release gates.

SunWater is also still awaiting further inflows to arrive into the dam’s catchment area from Roma and Mitchell region, which is expected to require a continued water release for at least the next five days.

SunWater will continue to monitor inflows into the dam catchment and based on that data will increase or decrease water releases as required in line with established dam operating guidelines.

SunWater has contacted all relevant local authorities to advise them of the water release and the course of action being taken and will continue to liaise with them as required.

SunWater will provide further updates on the water release in due course.
