Golfers tee up for good cause

26 Oct 2010

More than 60 golfers dusted off their clubs and teed up for a good cause on Saturday for the annual St George Lions Charity Golf Day.

The annual event, which has been sponsored by SunWater for the past eight years, aims to raise much-needed funds for local charities within the community.

SunWater’s Banjo Bennett, one of the event organisers, said the fundraiser was once again a huge success with $3000 raised on the day.

“The event drew supporters from right across the community including the local rugby league club and irrigators and thanks to their efforts the raised funds can now be distributed to a number of very worthy local causes,” Mr Bennett said.

"Since this event was first started in 2002 SunWater, Lions members and other supporters have been able to raise more than $30,000 for the community and we hope this tradition continues for many years to come,” he said.
