Beardmore Dam Emergency Action Plan Activation 09/02/10 11am

Further to this morning's 6am statement on the Beardmore Dam Emergency Action Plan activation.

SunWater has advised that the Stage Two EAP controlled water release is continuing and has increased to 30,000 megalitres per day.

Beardmore Dam is currently at 103% capacity (84,891ML) and holding steady but is not expected to rise significantly over the next 12 hours.

SunWater is continuing to liaise with authorities in St George while the controlled water release takes place.

The dam's fully supply level is 81,700ML.

 

Beardmore Dam Emergency Action Plan Activation 09/02/10 6am

At 10pm Monday, February 2010, SunWater activated Stage Two of its Emergency Action Plan for the Beardmore Dam in St George following major inflows into the dam's catchment over the past 48 hours.

Stage Two of Beardmore Dam's EAP is activated once SunWater begins a controlled release of water through the dam's gates at a rate of 25,000 megalitres per day.

The Beardmore Dam is currently at 103% of capacity and holding approximately 85,000 megalitres.

St George authorities are aware of the EAP activation and are managing the situation.

SunWater will continue to liaise with authorities during this EAP event and will continue to provide further updates.
