Community Resource Centre Welcomes SunWater Computer Donation

Banana Shire’s Community Resource Centre (CRC), which supports children and adults with additional needs, has welcomed a generous donation by SunWater of a dozen computers.

SunWater Regional Manager Nev Wogandt visited the centre this week to hand over the computers to provide local people with the opportunity to tackle technology.

CRC Acting Program Coordinator Roseanne Brooks said the centre’s information technology facility was well-used by CRC members but many had difficulty visiting the centre in person.

Ms Brooks said the donated computers would be placed with a number of different community services, including the Endeavour Foundation, the Banana Shire Support Service Women’s Shelter, the Moura Cluster Special Education Unit and Blue Care.

Ms Brooks said other computers would be placed directly with a number of local families.

“This will certainly increase computer access for people with additional needs across our community,” Ms Brooks said.

Ms Brooks said resources at the CRC were recently updated through a Commonwealth Special Education – Non School Organisation grant.

The donated computers from SunWater will enable CRC members greater use of the new educational software resources now available.

SunWater Regional Manager Nev Wogandt said he was pleased SunWater could assist such a worthwhile community organisation.

“These computers became available following a recent upgrade to our Biloela office’s information technology capabilities, so were in need of a good home,” Mr Wogandt said

“The Community Resource Centre offers an important and valuable service to local people and I am confident centre staff will put these computers to good use within our community,” he said.
